Nominations are now being accepted for the Friends of the Theatre Awards.

The annual event recognizes and celebrates outstanding contributions to the local theatre community.

“The Friends of the Theatre Awards honour individuals and organizations that have demonstrated exceptional dedication, support, and passion for the performing arts in Sault Ste. Marie,” said the Sault Community Theatre Centre (SCTC) in a news release.

Categories include:

  • Outstanding Volunteer Service: Recognizing individuals who have generously given their time and effort to support the theatre.
  • Excellence in Artistic Contribution: Celebrating artists, directors, designers, and other creative professionals who have significantly enhanced the quality of productions.
  • Community Partnership Award: Acknowledging businesses or organizations that have provided substantial support to SCTC and the local theatre scene.
  • Youth Achievement in Theatre: Highlighting the contributions of young individuals (under 18) who have shown remarkable talent and commitment to theatre.

"These awards are an important way to recognize and thank those who make our theatre community vibrant and dynamic,” said Christopher Rous, chair of the SCTC Board, in a news release.

“We encourage everyone to nominate those who have made a difference in our theatre family."

Forms can be submitted online until July 31 through the SCTC website or in person at the theatre’s box office.

A special awards ceremony will be held on September 28 to announce the winners.
