Children in Sault Ste. Marie will receive a safe oasis of play with a new playground located at Rosedale Park on Chapple Street.

A service project of the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore and the Kiwanis Club of Sault Ste. Marie, the playground will be constructed later this year when they have reached their budget of $261,500.

The Rosedale Park Revitalization Project is a multifaceted project which will provide a range of play opportunities for all ages 365 days of the year. Trees and benches will be added throughout the park area and a pathway will connect the park to the parking area which will improve accessibility to the site. The project will consist of 8 play zones including a zip line, naturalized play area and various swings. There are also future plans to build a water splash pad.

The Kiwanis Club has received generous donations and support from the City of Sault Ste. Marie and Child Care Algoma and they hope to also raise a minimum of $30,000 through corporate and individual donations.

Sponsorship packages are available for anyone wanting to get involved with this project. This is an excellent opportunity to support the work of your local Kiwanis Clubs while giving back to our community. Kiwanis will also be hosting fundraising events this Spring to help reach fundraising goals.

The Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore and Kiwanis Club of Sault Ste. Marie recognize that playing is an essential part of a child’s development and critical for the successful growth of both the brain and the body. Playgrounds offer a unique opportunity to support a child's cognitive, emotional, physical and social development. Kids need Kiwanis, now more than ever before, and this playground is an example of how our clubs can meet a need in our community.
