New partnership clears runway for aviation opportunities at Sault College

SOAR program provides a career pathway for instructors of Sault College to join Air Georgian as first officers, giving them an entry point into the Air Canada network

MISSISSAUGA - Air Georgian's SOAR program for aviation career awareness, recruitment and retention continues to grow with the addition of their 14th partner, Sault College.

The partnership provides a career pathway for instructors of Sault College to join Air Georgian as first officers, giving them an entry point into the Air Canada network.

"Sault College is honoured to partner with Air Georgian Limited and become a member of its SOAR program," said Greg Mapp, chief flight instructor and chair at Sault College. "This partnership has incredible benefits for our College, it provides our graduates a pathway into the industry while simultaneously assisting our instructor recruitment and retention efforts."

"We are excited to have another aviation college join SOAR," said Jeslene Bryant, SOAR Coordinator at Air Georgian. "The post-secondary education Sault College's School of Aviation provides to graduates prepares them for the next phase of their aviation career at Air Georgian."

About SOAR

SOAR provides partnered operators and flight schools with predictable pilot attrition and advance notice of hires. It also gives employees and students of partners visibility regarding career progression and an entry point into the Air Canada system.

SOAR (Sharing Opportunities for Advancement and Reward) is comprised of three initiatives:

  • Raising awareness of careers in aviation for high school students
  • Working with flight schools and 703/704 operators to recruit pilots into Air Georgian, and;
  • Providing career fulfillment and advancement opportunities for all employees

Air Canada's Pilot Mobility Arrangement (PMA)

All Air Georgian pilots are guaranteed an interview with Air Canada through the PMA. Up to 40% of Air Georgian pilots will advance to Air Canada in 2018, providing them with the fastest pathway to Air Canada.
