After decades of operation by the Hilsinger family, Algoma’s Water Tower Inn is now under new management.

Transition to the new management — Toronto-based Atlific Hotels — began March 21.

J.J.’s Hospitality LTD., which was founded in 1962, will continue to own the hotel.

Algoma’s Water Tower Inn was built in 1974 and in 2003 the adjacent property on which the water tower stands was purchased as surplus from the city.

Calls to Donna Hilsinger, long-time general manager of Algoma's Water Tower Inn, were not returned.

Atlific Hotels announces management of Algoma's Water Tower Inn & Suites

The hotel management brand expands its reach in beautiful northern Ontario

TORONTO – Atlific Hotels is proud to announce its management of Algoma’s Water Tower Inn & Suites, which began on March 21, 2016.

The J.J.’s Hospitality-owned property is a landmark of the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario skyline.

Algoma’s Water Tower Inn & Suites is owned and operated by the city’s own Hilsinger family of J.J.’s Hospitality Ltd.

Operating in Sault Ste. Marie since 1962, the Hilsingers built the iconic Algoma’s Water Tower Inn & Suites in 1974.

With 176 rooms and suites, pools, a fitness centre, restaurants and free high-speed Wi-Fi, the hotel is designed for business and leisure. Retrofitted LED lighting and energy-efficient products have made Algoma’s Water Tower Inn & Suites an eco-rated hotel member of the Global Green Key Program.

The property is home to The Pavilion conference and event centre, a highly flexible interconnecting space for meetings and events. The Pavilion comes complete with personalized event coordination and rich architectural features, overlooking the hotel’s courtyards and waterways.

Gail Chapelsky has been appointed General Manager of the property. Chapelsky’s relationship with Atlific goes back to 2004 when she opened the Victoria Marriot Inner Harbour as Director of Operations. Since then she has held positions as General Manager at both the Lake Louise Inn and Hilton Garden Inn West Edmonton.

“I am thrilled to bring Atlific’s impeccable service to this fantastic property,” said Chapelsky, “and I look forward to continuing the tradition of excellent hospitality that the hotel is known for with the added Atlific touch.”

Algoma’s Water Tower Inn & Suites is centrally located in Sault Ste. Marie, steps away from prime shopping, dining and attractions.

Guests are a five-minute drive to the Lake Superior and Lake Huron Heritage Coasts parks and trail systems, with easy access to fishing, cycling, kayaking and rock climbing.

The hotel is a 20-minute drive from the Sault Ste. Marie Airport and provides guests shuttle services upon request.
