A new grant initiative in Sault Ste. Marie hopes to expand community housing options.

The program financially supports homeowners, property developers, and non-profit organizations in creating rental suites or building multi-unit developments.

The Housing Grant Program offers funding for various projects that result in new residential units, including the addition of secondary suites, basement apartments, and rental units to existing homes. Multi-unit housing developments and affordable housing projects led by non-profit organizations are also eligible.

To learn more, attend an information session on Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 4-7 p.m. at the Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre, 99 Foster Drive—Russ Ramsay Room (Level 3).

The session will be a drop-in format, with a formal presentation at 5:30 p.m. Applications for the Housing Grant Program are now being accepted.
