************************* East Fire Region situation update
Tuesday August 7th, 2007 – 0900hrs
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Nine new; 39 active fires.
- 407 fires; 7695.4 hectares to date since April 1.
DETAILS:
There have been nine new fires in the last 24 hours.
Of the new fires started, there were both lightning and human caused fires.
The Parry Sound area had one new fire.
North Bay district had three new fires.
Sudbury district had four new fires and Wawa had one new fire.
All of the new starts were less than 0.5 hectares in size and good progress is being made on all of them.
It will continue to be sunny across most of the East Fire Region.
Temperatures will be above seasonal with light to moderate winds.
Increasing cloud with showers and a risk of thunderstorms developing by late afternoon as daytime heating plus and lows over Lake Superior and Huron begin to generate cloud.
The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds the public that before burning please check with your municipality to be advised of their burning regulations.
Never leave your fire unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving.
