A 24-year-old man is facing multiple charges — including fleeing police — after engaging in some alleged motorcycle misbehaviour.

On July 26, Sault Ste. Marie police say a motorcycle drove through a red light on Great Northern Road and "began doing some circles in the intersection" before "doing a wheelie and leaving at a high rate of speed."

Officers were in the immediate area, but did not pursue the biker "for public safety" reasons, according to a news release issued today.

A month later, on Aug. 30, "the same motorcycle was observed doing wheelies and running red lights. It is alleged that the driver was attempting to engage with officers who were in the immediate area."

This time, police managed to arrest the suspect and seize his Yamaha YZF-R.

Louis Boyer is charged with four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of fleeing police. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
