NEWS RELEASE

************************* A 33-year-old male was arrested on the 11th of October at 1:44 a.m. on Huron Street and charged with one count of assault, one count of impaired driving and one count of consuming over the legal limit.

It is alleged that around 1:30 a.m. on the 11th of October, the accused was driving in the area of Huron Street when he got into a verbal argument with his girlfriend, a passenger at the time.

The accused stopped the vehicle and when his girlfriend exited the car, the accused got out and pushed her to the ground.

The victim got back into the car and locked the doors.

The accused then smashed the window and began to assault her once again when she attempted to leave.

A witness called police and when they attended they found the accused to be under the influence of alcohol.

The victim received non-life-threatening injuries during the incident.

The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.
