The former Sears department store in the Station Mall is being prepared for possible future occupancy, says a spokesperson speaking on behalf of new mall management Cushman and Wakefield.
Workers have been filling multiple waste bins outside the former two-level department store with construction debris for at least a week.
On Wednesday, the company confirmed the store is being prepared by the mall's new owner SM International Holdings Ltd. for eventual occupancy.
"The landlord is doing some clean-up work to prepare the space for future leasing opportunities," said Sarah Geddes, CEO and founder of Press & Post, speaking on behalf of Cushman Wakefield.
No other details or timelines were offered.
The Station Mall location of Sears opened in 1973 and closed permanently in October of 2017.
