***************************** North East LHIN announces new chief executive officer

NORTH BAY - (January 6) - The North East Local Health Integration Network (NE LHIN) is pleased to announce that Louise Paquette, former director general of FedNor will be the NE LHIN CEO effective March 1, 2010.

Following an extensive search throughout the late fall of 2009, the announcement is welcomed news for the board and staff of the NE LHIN.

Louise Paquette [shown in a photo supplied by Northern Ontario Business] is an experienced results-oriented executive with demonstrated vision and leadership skills.

Over the course of 30 years, she has led organizations in transition and earned a reputation as a credible, inclusive and strategic leader among Northern Ontario stakeholders.

For the past 12 years, she has been the director general of FedNor.

Peter Vaudry, interim chair of the NE LHIN noted that: “Louise brings strengths and skills to the NE LHIN organization that will help to move us to the next stage of our evolution. This was a unanimous decision by our board. We were looking for a visionary, someone with an acute business sense, a relationship builder, a team player and a strong sensitivity and awareness of the people and communities of North East Ontario. We found it all in Louise.”

Louise Paquette stated that, “Although it was a difficult decision to leave FedNor, I look forward to the challenge of leading another organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of Northerners."

- The NE LHIN CEO and staff are based in North Bay.

- The annual budget of the NE LHIN is $1.2 billion; all of which is flowed to the region’s 200 health service providers.

- The NE LHIN region spans 400,000 square kilometers and is home to more than 550,000 people.

- The NE LHIN is one of fourteen regional networks in Ontario created to plan, integrate and fund local health services. The NE LHIN works with more than 200 health service providers including hospitals, the North East CCAC, long term care facilities and consumers and their families.
