Louis Allen Rawls, once described by Frank Sinatra as having "the classiest singing and silkiest chops in the singing game," has died in Los Angeles at the age of 72.

Louis Allen Rawls, once described by Frank Sinatra as having "the classiest singing and silkiest chops in the singing game," has died in Los Angeles at the age of 72.

The three-time Grammy Award winner died this morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

He was hospitalized last month with lung cancer.

Rawls recorded more than 70 albums.

He appeared in numerous movies including Blues Brothers 2000, Leaving Las Vegasand Angel, Angel, Down We Go.

Rawls was also seen in the Baywatch spinoff series Baywatch Nights.

His smooth baritone was much-sought as a cartoon voice and can be heard on Hey Arnold, Garfield, The Proud Family, and Captain Planet and the Planeteers.

Rawls is best known for his 1976 platinum-selling album All Things in Time, which included his best-selling single You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine, which not only topped the R&B charts but also hit the Number Two spot on pop charts.
