Miss Sault Ste. Marie joins City Council at Rotary Parade

SAULT STE. MARIE - Mayor Debbie Amaroso and members of City Council will be joined in this year’s 90th Annual Rotary Community Day Parade by Emily Hillstrom (pictured), Miss Sault Ste. Marie.

In February, City Council passed a resolution supporting Emily as a candidate for the Miss Northern Ontario Regional Canada Pageant 2012 – an event which focuses on the promotion of tourism within Northern Ontario municipalities and fundraising for families of children with cancer.

“Emily has an important role as a youth ambassador for Sault Ste. Marie and with our special 100th anniversary year in 2012, we are pleased to have her participate with members of Council in this year’s Community Day Parade as we celebrate our past and look forward to our future,” says Celebrate 100! Management Chair Councillor Susan Myers.

Sault residents planning to attend the Rotary parade on July 21 starting at 11 a.m. are encouraged to leave their vehicles at home to minimize traffic congestion in the downtown area.
