Two city parks in different parts of Sault Ste. Marie are in line for new playground equipment.

On Monday, city council is expected to approve a $305,445 purchase of new equipment for Parkland and Westwood Parks.

Parkland Park is near Parkland Public School on Amber Street near Algoma University.

Westwood Park is near Goulais Avenue and Second Line.

City staff have chosen Park N Water Ltd. of Mono, Ontario to provide the new play equipment for both parks, over submissions from S.F. Scott Mfg. Co. Ltd. of Medicine Hat, Alberta and Park N Play Design Co. Ltd. of Rockyview County, Alberta.

"Proponents were invited to submit options with full rubber surfacing or mixed surfacing. It is the consensus of the evaluation committee that the proponent scoring the highest in the evaluation process is Park N Water Ltd. and have selected the mixed surface option, it being the most economical therefore allowing more funding allowed to selection of equipment," said Karen Marlow, the city's manager of purchasing.

Monday's city council meeting will be live-streamed on SooToday starting at 5 p.m.
