Over the last 30 years, the average June rainfall has been 74mm. When you combine all the rain we've had this month with what we expect this weekend, we will be close to 140mm—almost double that norm. By the end of this weekend, we will have counted 18 days out of 30 in June with rainfall - that's an extra week over the normal 11 days we usually have with rain this month.

We will see rain on the first day of this coming long weekend, but the good news is that on the last day or two, sunshine and warmer weather should return in time for the fireworks on Canada Day.

Clouds move into the region Friday, and rain will start later in the afternoon as daytime highs climb to 22°C. The rain will continue into the evening and overnight. Rain and storms are likely Saturday morning, but we could see some breaks in the clouds during the afternoon as temperatures reach 23°C.

Skies should clear on Sunday, but that cool northwest wind returns to keep daytime highs at 19°C. The sunshine continues into Canada Day and will help temperatures climb to 25°C.
