The Sault Ste. Marie weather radar has been offline since Jan. 10, but a representative from Environment and Climate Change Canada said it should return to service sometime next week.
“The radar experienced an unscheduled outage,” said Peter Kimbell, a warning preparedness meteorologist, on Tuesday.
Kimbell confirmed a part needs to be delivered to the Montreal River Radar Station and this will take some time due to road conditions. He wasn't sure where the part was coming from.
Out of the 33 radars that Environment Canada has set up across the country, only the Montreal River station is currently offline, he said.
