Local man $140K richer after SAHF 50/50 win

Angelo Ritrovato of Sault Ste. Marie is the latest winner of the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) 50/50, the foundation announced in a news release issued today. 

Ritrovato's ticket for the $140,195 jackpot was drawn on Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. 

"Angelo was at work when he got the call saying he had won over $140,000. His first words were 'But I still have to work!' He had a few jobs left in the day, pouring concrete, but was so excited to tell the people around his jobsite what had just happened, he yelled – 'guess what…!' to those standing around before hanging up the phone," the release states. 

He says he plans to spend his winnings to fix up his farmhouse, build a garage and spoil his grandkids for Christmas.

On Oct. 29 at 11 a.m., Angelo Ritrovato of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. won the $140,195 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation’s (SAHF) October electronic and online 50/50 draw. His lucky number (X-5949102) was drawn electronically and he was contacted immediately.

Angelo was at work when he got the call saying he had won over $140,000. His first words were “But I still have to work!” He had a few jobs left in the day, pouring concrete, but was so excited to tell the people around his jobsite what had just happened, he yelled – “guess what…!” to those standing around before hanging up the phone. 

Angelo is a long-time supporter of the SAHF 50/50, “If I’m going to buy tickets, I’m happy to see it support our local hospital,” Angelo explained. “I spent some time in the hospital, and everyone took great care of me. I always want to see them supported in what they do.” The funds from SAHF 50/50 purchase medical equipment essential to providing care, and keeping patients local.

When asked about how he’d spend his winnings, Angelo said, “I’m going to fix up my farmhouse and build a garage. I was always planning to, but this is going to make it happen quicker. And with Christmas coming, I think I’ll spoil the grandkids a little more this year.” 

Also in October, SAHF awarded Ken Miron of Garden River, ON $10,000 in the early bird draw. His lucky number was X-2222723. The $10,000 early bird continues in November as a bonus for all purchasers who secure their tickets before November 12th at 2 PM.

This draw was a celebration of a huge accomplishment at SAHF: this was the 24th monthly draw, marking 2 full years of SAHF 50/50. It also saw SAH surpass $4 million in prizes awarded to-date.
