Ontario's new vaccine call-in system went online today, with thousands of residents across the province accessing the internet and phone lines to book their local COVID-19 vaccinations.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford spoke at a live teleconference from a mass vaccination clinic in Cobourg, Ont. to talk about the new system. Ford said Ontario is doing all it can to deliver vaccines to all parts of the province as quickly as possible, but said he needs the federal government to step up and ensure it can deliver more vaccines to Ontario.
With respect to the efficiency of the new online booking system for vaccinations, Ford took questions from reporters in Ottawa and Hamilton who said problems were being encountered. Ford said he wasn't too surprised, but said all the issues were being worked on and that calls from coming in to the book centre at the rate of 375 calls per minute.
He asked Ontario residents to be patient and said everything was being done to book as many people as quickly as possible.
