WATCH: Elliott, top doc give COVID update

Omicron expected to peak this month, with hospitalizations peaking after

Top officials gave an update on the COVID-19 data in Ontario today.

The update included Minister of Health Christine Elliott, chief medical officer of health Dr. Kieran Moore and Ontario Health CEO Matthew Anderson.

Ontario has been at a modified Step 2 of the Roadmap to Reopen since Jan. 5. Schools returned to in-person learning on Jan. 17.

Yesterday, Premier Doug Ford told an Ottawa radio station that positive news about COVID-19 restrictions is coming this week.

Clarity on how the province will reopen wasn't provided today and is still expected later this week. 

Elliott said Omicron is expected to peak this month, with hospitalizations peaking afterwards.
