Fencing is going up around the James L. McIntyre Centennial Library.
It’s the first step of a construction project to replace the building's exterior cladding.
“The cladding – the metal siding between the windows and the roof of the building – has exceeded its life expectancy and needs to be replaced to prevent water ingress and damage,” explained Sault Ste. Marie Public Library in a news release.
The library will remain open during regular business hours throughout the project.
People will still be able to use the main entrances under the canopy, but some outdoor spaces, including the courtyard, will be off-limits.
In addition, the staff parking lots are closed so employees will be using public parking on East Street and adjacent to Clergue Park, which could limit the number of available spaces.
Crews from Everest Masonry Inc. are expected to be working on site until Oct. 30.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” the library added.
