Update:

The Coldest Night of the Year launch party has been postponed.

The event was scheduled to take place tomorrow, but St. Vincent Place says continued delays in shipments caused by the Canada Post strike mean they haven’t received toques or any other material for this year’s event.

“We look forward to seeing all of this year’s walkers, and hope to connect with them soon,” the organization said in a news release.

The annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk is scheduled for Feb. 22 in Sault Ste. Marie.

Original story below:

St. Vincent Place will be hosting a launch party next week for its Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) campaign.

There will be music, treats, and toques for those who show up at St. Vincent Place hall on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

“Whether you’re an experienced walker or team captain, or you’re just dipping your toes to see what it’s all about, the launch party is a great way to learn more about CNOY and St. Vincent Place,” the organization said in a news release.

The Coldest Night of the Year takes place every February in over 300 communities across North America.

Here in Sault Ste. Marie, the walk is scheduled for Feb. 22.

The 2024 event raised over $130,000 to support St. Vincent Place’s food bank, Lunches for Learning program, soup kitchen, and men’s transitional residence.
