You're invited to lace up those walking shoes — and open those wallets — for the Soup Kitchen's second annual Tony Martin’s Walk for Change “Walk-a-Thon” on Saturday, Oct. 5.

This walk is to promote awareness for those struggling with food insecurity and homelessness while raising much-needed funds to help.

Pledge packages are available at the Soup Kitchen, located at 172 James St., between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday starting Sept. 9. Those who can't make the walk are encouraged to make a pledge or help sponsor the event online.

The Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen Community Centre will be holding the 2nd Annual Tony Martin’s Walk for Change “Walk-a-Thon” on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024.

The Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen Community Centre aims to provide services to encourage self-sufficiency and improve quality of life through reducing hunger and its effects. And further, to protect children and develop social skills through our two after-school children’s programs (Brighter Beginnings and Back to Basics).

Tony Martin was a founding father of the Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen Community Centre and a champion for the poor through out his year in both federal and provincial politics. Participants will walk for change to raise awareness of so many struggling with food insecurity and homelessness and raise much needed funds to help us help others.

Your pledge package can be picked up at the Soup Kitchen, located at 172 James Street between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. Pledge packages will be available starting Sept. 9, 2024. If you can’t make the walk, please consider pledging or help sponsor the event online at soupkitchencommunitycentre.org
