NEWS RELEASE
KORAH RELAY FOR LIFE COMMITTEE
*************************
Korah's Relay for Life Committee held their second "Paint for a Cure" event on Thursday, May 10. This event, along with a first held in November, has raised over $1,300 for the Relay for Life Committee to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society ($800 from first event, $500 from second).
Students paid $10 to paint under the instruction of Committee Chair Temeara Barrett, a grade 12 student at Korah. The supplies for these events were made possible by a Mayor's Youth Advisory Council Youth Grant of $500. Money raised will contribute to helping the Committee reach their goal of a $30,000 donation for the Canadian Cancer Society.
The Relay for Life Committee at Korah, comprised of students from grades 9-12 and teacher mentors, works year-round to raise money and organize the final event.
Korah Collegiate is the only high school in Northern Ontario to hold a school-run 12 hour Relay for Life event. Over the past eight years, Korah has raised over $87,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
This year, Korah's event will be held on June 14. If you are a survivor and would like to participate in this event, please contact the committee by calling Korah Collegiate at (705) 945-7180.
