With the goal of ensuring that access to quality local health care remains available in Sault Ste. Marie, the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore, through its Foundation, has made an incredibly generous donation of $34,650.91 to the Group Health Centre Trust Fund. This financial contribution from Kiwanis will be used to purchase pediatric transducers, a crucial component used during ultrasounds.

“Because of the generosity of the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore and its Foundation, GHC can upgrade and replace this critical piece of diagnostic medical equipment used on our pediatric patients," said Tricia Lesnick, Group Health Centre Trust Fund manager. "This will allow us to continue to provide excellent local care – especially for our most delicate patients, such as babies and children,” said Lesnick.

Ultrasound equipment used for pediatric patients differs from the technology used for adults. Pediatric transducers are specialized pieces of medical equipment designed for children as their bodies are still developing.

With this generous donation from Kiwanis, this vital piece of diagnostic equipment will be available to local physicians at GHC who provide care to approximately 60,000 enrolled patients, around 3,000 of whom are under 15 years of age.

Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore has been serving the children of Sault Ste. Marie and the world since August 23, 1961. The money raised through the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore supports children and youth needs throughout our community.
