This Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon, the Sault Ste. Marie Horticultural Society will host its plant sale at the Parks Canada Canal greenhouse. The greenhouse is located near the Superintendent’s House, just past the Parks Canada main office.
Available plant varieties include perennials, annuals, herbs, shade plants, house plants and shrubs. A limited number of hanging baskets will also be available. Proceeds from the event support beautification efforts across the city.
Horticultural Society members will be on-hand to answer questions and provide membership information to those interested in joining.
"The purchase of a $15 annual membership comes with discounts at a number of area garden centres, greenhouses, landscaping/yard services, florists, and pruning and tree/shrub care suppliers," says a news release issued by the Horticultural Society.
“We are looking forward to this event, there are a lot of great volunteers this year and our membership keeps growing!” says Andrea Aubertin, president of the Sault Ste. Marie Horticultural Society, in the release. “We are excited that there has been a revitalized interest in gardening in these past few years.”
Plant sale attendees are asked to bring bags, boxes or wagons to transport their plant purchases. Cash, cheque and e-transfer will be accepted. Small bills and coins are appreciated.
Plants sold during the sale are provided by Horticultural Society members as well as the Canal greenhouse.
