The worst-kept secret in Sault Ste. Marie is officially out of the makeup bag.
Sephora, the global cosmetics giant, is moving into a section of the former Sears location at Station Mall.
As SooToday first reported in May, the popular retailer had posted jobs for the yet-to-be-announced store. But at the time, a spokesperson for Station Mall's hospitality advisor, The StratonHunter Group, would not confirm that Sephora was planning to open there.
In a subsequent news release, the company would only say a "global beauty leader" will be opening inside the mall later this year.
As of this week, it's now official. A large black and white Sephora sign has been placed outside the old Sears store. "Coming soon," it reads.
Sephora is owned by luxury goods group LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton and operates approximately 1,900 stores in 29 countries worldwide, including over 360 stores across North America.
Currently, the closest Sephora locations to Sault Ste. Marie are in the New Sudbury Centre mall and at Kohl's store-within-a-store in Gaylord, Michigan.
