An Ontario Fire Marshal official is on scene investigating the cause of a fire which occurred at Bud Robinson Motorsports at 674 Great Northern Road early Thursday morning.
“The fire occurred on a second floor staircase on the east side of the building, that’s the origin of the fire and right now I’m looking for potential causes within the area,” said James Allen, a Sudbury-based Ontario Fire Marshal investigator, speaking to SooToday Friday afternoon.
“I’ve brought in a forensic engineer from the office of the Fire Marshal and we’re looking at some electrical components in the area of the fire’s origin,” Allen said.
Four people were in the building at the time of the fire.
Allen said two of them were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation, one having been released, with another still in hospital believed to be in stable condition.
Allen said flooring samples have been taken from the fire’s centre of origin and will be sent to Toronto’s Centre of Forensic Sciences for examination.
“That probably will take three to four weeks for the results to come back, and then I’ll make a final determination on the cause of the fire,” Allen said.
