Impaired charge laid after fiery collision at Blind River

OPP NEWS RELEASES

************************** BLIND RIVER, ON - On Sunday at 5 a.m.. police received a call of a vehicle in the ditch on fire near Boom Camp road in Blind River.

When police arrived, the vehicle was engulfed in flames and the Blind River Fire Department was on scene.

It was learned that the driver, who was the lone occupant, had just left the scene in another vehicle.

Shortly afterwards, officers located and arrested the male driver.

Charged is 19-year-old Aaron Labrash of Blind River.

Labrash is charged with the following criminal offences:

- Impaired operation.

- Being over 80 milligrams.

- Failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

Labrash was also charged with having a G2 licence with a blood alcohol concentration above zero, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Labrash was released and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on January 7.

SPANISH, ON - On October 9, East Algoma OPP received a report of damage done to a store in Spanish.

The owner of Maebelle’s Country Store closed up shop and returned later to find a wooden post on the porch was broken in half as well as two newspaper boxes were tipped over.
