East-end resident Karen Benford discovered there’s a Grinch in her neighbourhood.
Over the past two nights, a number of figures from her nativity scene have gone missing, including baby Jesus.
Also missing from her yard on Dacey Road near Queen Street East are Mary, a cow and a donkey.
“I tried following the footprints in the snow, but it appears they got in a car,” Benford told SooToday. “This could be happening to others as well. It seems like the person is building their own nativity so others around town may have other pieces stolen.”
“What’s the point of the rest of the figures without Mary and Jesus?” she said. “They just can't be replaced. They are old and they are very hard to come by.”
The theft was reported to the police, Benford said.
