How much our mayor and councillors were paid in 2024

The following, as released at this week's city council meeting, is a city-issued summary of remuneration and expenses for Mayor Matthew Shoemaker and his 10 ward councillors for the year 2024.

Ontario's Municipal Act requires city treasurer Shelley J. Schell to make the information public each year.

Mayor Shoemaker received an $81,834 honourarium, and a $5,715 car allowance.

He was also paid $709 to attend a TVO interview, $2,580 to go to an Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference and $981 for a Northern Ontario Large Urban Mayors (NOLUM) meeting.

Total remuneration to the mayor last year was $91,821.
