Algoma Public Health is reporting no new hospitalizations and 38 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Tuesday's update, though those numbers may be an underestimation due to limits on who can be tested.

There are currently 564 active cases (plus two in non-Algoma residents in the region) , 19 people in hospital with COVID-19 in the Algoma Region (plus one hospitalization in a non-Algoma resident who's residing in the region), and 42 cases have been resolved since the last report.

APH has conducted 211 tests since the last report.

Since Oct. 1, 2021, 72.9 per cent of hospitalizations in Algoma were in unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals, and 27.1 per cent were in fully vaccinated individuals.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
