The latest COVID-19 numbers from Algoma Public Health show a drop in hospitalizations in the region.

In Friday's release, APH is reporting 12 hospitalizations in the Algoma region, which is down four from Thursday.

The active case count in the region rose by 27 on Friday to 620. There is one additional active case in the region that is a non-Algoma resident temporarily in the region.

The rise in active cases comes after the number of active cases dropped by 32 in Thursday's report.

The number of confirmed cases in the region rose by 70 on Friday to a total of 4,675 while the number of resolved cases is up by 43 to a total of 4,055.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
