Hospitalizations, active COVID case count down slightly: APH

The latest COVID-19 update from Algoma Public Health shows the number of hospitalizations and active cases in the Algoma region each dropped by one from Saturday's update.

The number of hospitalizations in Algoma is at 18 while the number of active cases in the region is 557.

There is one additional hospitalization and two active cases who are non-Algoma residents temporarily in the region.

The number of confirmed cases after Sunday's update rose by 32 to 4,027 while the number of resolved cases rose to 3,470, an increase of 33 from Saturday.

The number of completed tests in the region rose by 340 to a total of 230,898,

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
