NEWS RELEASE

ALGOMA DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

************************* Author and Holocaust survivor delivers powerful, personal story

The Algoma District School Board (ADSB) and its School Council Coordinating Committee (SCCC) welcome Dr. Eva Olsson and invite the public to her presentations on Wednesday, April 15 in Sault Ste. Marie and Thursday, April 16 in Blind River.

Dr. Olsson is a Jewish survivor of the Holocaust and the author of the national best-selling book Unlocking the Doors: A Woman’s Struggle Against Intolerance.

Her second book Remembering Forever: A Journey of Darkness and Light was released last fall.

For many years, Eva Olsson remained silent about her experiences during the Holocaust, partly out of denial, partly out of fear.

Since 1996 she began speaking about her life in the hope that people who hear her story will know that it is possible to survive the worst life has to throw at them.

She has spoken to hundreds of people in classrooms, churches, conference halls, colleges and universities across Canada and the United States.

Dr. Eva Olsson ~ A story of courage and hope:

Wednesday, April 15, 7 p.m. White Pines Community Theatre, Sault Ste. Marie

Thursday, April 16, 7 p.m. W.C. Eaket Secondary School Blind River

There is no charge for either of these presentations.

In addition, Dr. Olsson will deliver her message of tolerance and compassion to nearly 1,000 students during the afternoon of April 15 at White Pines Theatre and to over 400 students from the North Shore at W.C. Eaket on Thursday afternoon.
