Herkimer Street bridge closed for 'structural evaluation'

City says the bridge will be closed 'until further notice'

The Herkimer Street bridge is being shut down today for a structural evaluation.

The city says the closure "will remain in place until further notice."

"During this time, motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists should be cautious in the area and follow posted detour routes," says a brief news release. "The City of Sault Ste. Marie appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during this bridge closure."
