Helping Hands opens as warming centre during extreme cold

The warming centre, located at 346 Wellington St. West, will be open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Wednesdays the centre is open until 7 p.m.

Those looking for somewhere to go to get out of the cold now have a place thanks to Helping Hands Sault Ste. Marie.

The organization just announced that it will be operating as a warming centre at 346 Wellington St. W. from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. 

Visitors will be welcomed with hot beverages and soup, offering much-needed comfort during the harsh winter conditions.

Helping Hands Sault Ste. Marie is pleased to announce that it will be operating as a warming centre to provide a safe and warm space for individuals seeking relief from the extreme cold.

The warming centre, located at 346 Wellington St. West, will be open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesdays until 7 p.m. Visitors will be welcomed with hot beverages and soup, offering much-needed comfort during the harsh winter conditions.

“As temperatures continue to drop, it is crucial that we provide a place where people can find warmth and nourishment,” said Robert Peace, President of Helping Hands Sault Ste. Marie. “We recognize the challenges faced by many in our community, and we are committed to offering a welcoming space where everyone can find some relief from the cold. We are working with our Partners at Soya and the Salvation Army, the Soup Kitchen and others in these times of need.” 

Helping Hands is dedicated to supporting those in need, including newcomers, individuals facing financial hardships, and vulnerable community members. The organization encourages anyone struggling to stay warm to stop by and take advantage of the resources available.
