Helping Hands Sault Ste. Marie is pleased to announce that its Annual BBQ and Yard Sale will now take place rain or shine on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 346 Wellington Street West. This event is a key fundraiser to support the organization’s vital community programs and promises a day of food, fun, and great deals for all.

“We’re determined to make this year’s event a success, regardless of the weather,” said Robert Peace, President of Helping Hands Sault Ste. Marie. “The BBQ and yard sale are more than just a fundraiser; they’re a celebration of our community’s strength and unity. Every dollar raised helps us continue to provide essential services to those who need them most in Sault Ste. Marie.”

The event will feature a free community BBQ from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., where attendees can enjoy hot dogs and hamburgers. Additionally, a giant yard sale will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering a wide variety of new and nearly new items at unbeatable prices. The Balloon Lady will also be present, entertaining children with her creative balloon animals.

John Korab, Director of Helping Hands Sault Ste. Marie, emphasized the importance of the event. “Our organization relies heavily on the support of the community, and this event is a major part of that support. The funds we raise will go directly towards helping vulnerable populations, including newcomers, Indigenous people, and families in need. We’re incredibly grateful for the community’s ongoing generosity and hope to see a great turnout, rain or shine.”

Helping Hands Sault Ste. Marie is a 100% volunteer-run, non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing essential clothing, household items, and basic needs to the community. The organization plays a crucial role in supporting newcomers, Indigenous people, low-income families, and individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges, with the help of over 100 volunteers.

Join them for a day of food, fun, and fantastic deals at the Helping Hands Annual BBQ and Yard Sale.
