Rainfall Warning in effect for:

  • Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island
  • Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Hazard: Total rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 mm. Strong wind gusts near 80 km/h. Timing: Rain winding down Friday night. Strong winds Friday morning to Friday evening.

Discussion: Rain is expected to begin early this evening before tapering off Friday night. The heaviest rainfall is expected Friday morning. Northwesterly winds will strengthen Friday morning with gusts to 80 km/h possible Friday afternoon. The strong winds should gradually weaken Friday evening.

Utility outages may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
