NEWS RELEASE
MINISTER OF HEALTH
*************************
Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, today issued the following statement on the District of Algoma Public Health Unit:
“As a result of growing concern with regard to the governance and operations of the Board of Health for the District of Algoma Health Unit, I appointed Mr. Graham Scott to conduct an assessment.
Specifically he was mandated to assess the quality of the management or administration of the affairs of the Board of Health and to determine whether the Board is complying in all other respects with the Health Protection and Promotion Act.
Mr. Scott has completed his assessment and has provided a report to the ministry, which is now being reviewed.
To ensure transparency on this matter, in the coming weeks we will release the Assessor’s conclusions, recommendations, and subsequent Ministry actions to be taken.
I also am calling on Algoma Public Health, in the interests of transparency, to release the KPMG report that it commissioned.”
