Gunshots fired on Albert Street; victim rushed to hospital

Shooting occurred shortly before 4 a.m. in 100 block of Albert Street West

A person was shot on Albert Street West early this morning.

Shortly before 4 a.m., Sault Ste. Marie police responded to reports of gunfire in the 100 block of Albert Street West. At the scene, officers found a person suffering from gunshot wounds.

The person was transported to hospital with serious injuries. 

Police have released no information about potential suspects.

The public is asked to avoid the area as the investigation continues.

Albert Street West is currently closed between John Street and Andrew Street.

Officers are currently investigating a shooting incident in the 100 block of Albert Street West. Shortly before 4 a.m. officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival officers located a victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries. Community members are urged to avoid the area to allow first responders to focus on the scene. Further details will be provided as they become available.
