DUBREUILVILLE – A driver from Goulais River is facing charges after being stopped by police in Dubreuilville.

Police say on Nov. 3, shortly after 11 p.m., officers on general patrol from the Superior East OPP were alerted by their automated licence plate recognition system of a vehicle with expired plates travelling on Green Lake Road.

The vehicle then began travelling in an unsafe manner, police allege.

Officers conducted a traffic stop, where an investigation revealed the driver had consumed alcohol, according to an OPP news release.

Michael Jones, 38, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while Impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to Surrender Insurance Card

The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Wawa on Dec. 4.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Jones is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
