The 2024 Algoma University Golf Classic raised $35,000 that will go toward assisting first-year bachelor's and master's students.

"In a direct reflection of Algoma University’s commitment to affordability and accessibility, the raised funds will immediately support 14 students," a news release says. "This financial assistance will alleviate their academic and personal stress, allowing them to fully focus on their studies and future success.

“I am deeply grateful to our donors, sponsors, alumni and all participants for their incredible support at the 2024 Algoma University Golf Classic,” said president and vice-chancellor Asima Vezina. “Their generosity ensures that 14 deserving students will receive financial assistance, allowing them to focus on their academic pursuits without the burden of financial stress. These funds not only provide immediate relief but also empower our students to achieve their full potential, paving the way for their future success.”

Algoma University is ranked second in Canada for scholarships and bursaries by Maclean’s magazine, while also offering the most affordable tuition in Ontario for both domestic and international students.

Since its inception, the Algoma University Golf Classic has raised just under $600,000.
