An online fundraiser has been set up to help out a beloved local barber.
Earlier this month, Trevisanut's Barbershop announced on social media that it would be closed until further notice.
The president of Helping Hands, Robert Peace, says Dan Trevisanut is facing a health crisis and his organization wants to help him on his journey to cancer recovery.
“As many of you know, as a next door neighbour, Dan has always been there for us, giving us his time at our events and donating proceeds from haircuts to Helping Hands,” Peace said in a news release.
“He now needs to travel out of town to receive the specialized medical treatment he urgently requires. This unexpected journey has placed a significant financial burden on him, and his family and that’s where we can make a difference.”
A GoFundMe campaign hopes to help with the costs of accommodations, travel and medical bills.
“Every donation, no matter how small, will go a long way in helping him on this journey to recovery,” the page for the online fundraiser added.
Helping Hands board member John Korab says people can help by doing the following:
• Book a virtual haircut and contribute: Any amount you can spare will make a difference. Your generosity will directly support Dan’s accommodations, travel expenses, and medical bills.
• Share: Please share this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks. The more people who know about Dan’s situation, the more help we can provide.
• Offer Encouragement: Leave words of support and encouragement for Dan in the comments section. Your kind words mean the world to him.
“Dan has been an integral part of our community, and now it’s our turn to give back," said Korab.
“Let’s show him the love, support, and gratitude he deserves during this challenging time.”
