'He had a smile that you would never forget': Sault police have shared multiple photos of the 36-year-old officer, who was killed Tuesday night in an off-duty motorcycle crash

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is mourning one of its own: Constable Orrette Robinson, who was killled Tuesday night in an off-duty motorcycle crash.

During an emotional press conference on Thursday morning, Chief Hugh Stevenson paid tribute to the "wonderful role model," who was sworn in as a city police officer in August 2021.

“He was happy, he had an incredible joy for life that was infectious," Stevenson said of the 36-year-old constable. "He had a smile that you would never forget.”

Funeral arrangements are still being made. In the meantime, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service released the above photographs of Cst. Robinson interacting with members of the local community.

“He would stop his cruiser, get out and have a chat with these young kids,” Stevenson said. “They would look up at him and say: ‘See? I can be you some day.’ He had that infectious feel about him. He was very good with people — he was warm, he was accepting and it’s a real loss.”
