An upcoming event will raise funds for the mental health and wellness of veterans and first responders.

The Luke Cyr Foundation’s March to the Light Charity Gala will be held Friday at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 25.

Emceed by Shawn Cyr of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services, the night will feature impactful stories from veterans and mental health advocates and highlight the documentary Par for the Course: A Soldier's Journey.

Guest Speakers include:

  • Veteran Steve Ogilvie and his wife, Melissa, sharing their personal/family journeys.
  • Monique Yashinskie, founder of the Robbie Dean Counselling Centre.
  • Veteran Sean Sutherland from the Caddie School for Soldiers.
  • Luke Cyr, veteran and founder of The Luke Cyr Foundation, on the foundation's impactful work and future initiatives.

“This is a unique opportunity to shed light on important topics and engage with key voices in our community,” said organizers in a news release.

“With Remembrance Day on the horizon, this is a timely opportunity to honour the sacrifices of our veterans and support their mental health.”
