Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord has ratified a four-year deal with the teachers working with the board.

The collective agreement with Association des enseignantes et enseignants franco-ontariens de l’Ontario  – Local 57 – Nord-Ouest publique is in place retroactively from Sept. 1, 2022 to Aug. 31, 2026.

“I'm very pleased with this agreement, as it allows CS Grand Nord to continue working closely with the members of its teaching staff to offer the students entrusted to its care an education of incomparable quality,” said board chair Anne-Marie Gélineault, in a press release.

“The board recognizes that the work done by teachers is a major undertaking, and it is by working in partnership with them that we contribute to the excellence of French-language public education.”

In Sault Ste. Marie, the new deal applies teachers at École publique Écho-des-Rapides on Hugill Street.

“It’s by working in concert with our teaching staff that we are able to deliver a full range of programs and services and enhance student development so that they can reach their full potential,” said director of education Sébastien Fontaine.

“This agreement reflects our recognition of their work  and our determination to defend their interests.”
