Frannie's great big beans

If it's true that beans are good for your heart, then we're guessing the gi-humongous legumes that Fran Edwards took to market this weekend must be really, really good for cardiovascular fitness.

Fran says they're the biggest beans she's ever grown at Edwards Century Farm on Carpin Beach Road.

She got the seeds from a friend who got them from a gardener friend during a recent visit to England.

The Algoma Farmers' Market runs every Wednesday and Saturday at Roberta Bondar Park from 7 a.m. to noon or later.

It will continue operating there until Thanksgiving.

Edwards tells us next week will be the start of the squash and pumpkin season at the market.
