The Sault Climate Hub is hosting a webinar presentation by Rachel Brain, Communities Programme Manager at Repowering London, United Kingdom, on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom.
Brain grew up in the Soo, has an academic background in city design for sustainability, and has spent the last seven years working with local community co-operatives to tackle big challenges in housing and energy.
In this presentation, she will explore community energy models, an example from London, and how we can build a low-carbon energy system that is fairer and more resilient.
"Community energy offers a way to rethink who owns, controls, and benefits from energy infrastructure, and to drive a renewable energy transition that is fair and inclusive,” Brain said.
“In the webinar on Wednesday I’ll give an introduction to how community energy works and the ways that it can create meaningful benefits for communities.
“I’ll also share some examples of what this looks like from my work at Repowering London, in the UK, and I hope it will get people thinking about how a different energy model could deliver more for communities in Ontario."
All are welcome!
