For the next five days, your support of the Y will be matched 10 times

Help save the YMCA, one pay-it-forward membership at a time!

SooToday has a powerful way for you to join the effort to save the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA, while also helping a community member in need.

For the next five days, if you buy a Y membership for a community member in need by clicking here, your contribution will be matched dollar for dollar 10 times by generous local businesses, individuals and families (up to $100,000)!

For example, this means if you purchase one youth monthly pass for $33.50, then $335.00 will be donated towards providing YMCA memberships for youth, families and seniors in our community. These sponsored memberships will offer priceless opportunities for community connection for children in need, families new to Sault Ste. Marie and seniors looking for a place to belong.

Your support will also help secure 169 local jobs, provide over 500 much-needed daycare spots, and maintain a community centre that benefits people of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The Sault Ste. Marie community has already demonstrated how much heart it has by rallying for the Y when it risked closure earlier this year. Now, stepping up to purchase pay-it-forward memberships helps the non-profit achieve its goal of securing future stability.

If you value the vital role the YMCA’s accessible programming offers our city, including health and wellness activities, child care, youth sports, after-school programs, summer camps, training courses and more, you can help here!

A heartfelt thank you to the Dr. Lou and Mae Lukenda Charitable Foundation, which has made this next phase of the community efforts to save our Y possible by tentatively agreeing to purchase the YMCA building.

And a big thank you to our generous community partners who made this membership match possible:

BMO Nesbitt Burns

Century 21

Soo Foundry & Machine Ltd.

Soo Mill / The Hollingsworth Family

The Hilsinger Family

The Horbatuk Family

The Schikofsky Family

The Virene Family

Village Media / SooToday

Thank you for helping to keep a longstanding cornerstone of our community alive.

Once again, to participate in the 10X match initiative, you can help here!
