Firefighters, police respond to call at abandoned house on North Street (8 photos)

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded to a report of smoke coming from a the second story of an abandoned house in the 200 block of North Street shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday. 

People were reportedly inside the abandoned structure. An eyewitness told SooToday that he saw an individual fleeing from the house.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service vehicles were seen on both North Street and St. Georges Avenue West after being called to attend the scene. 

One individual was seen being placed inside a police vehicle on St. Georges Avenue West a short time later.
