Fire in the sky: Sault resident wakes up to 'multiple explosions' Friday

A local resident awoke to multiple explosions followed by a 'fireball' and plumes of smoke in the area of Algoma Steel at approximately 4 a.m.

A SooToday reader says she awoke to "multiple explosions" followed by a "fireball" and plumes of smoke in the area of Algoma Steel at approximately 4 a.m. on Friday.

A person who resides on Sunset Drive in Sault Ste. Marie, sent a 24-second video to the SooToday newsroom showing what appears to be fire followed by large plumes of smoke. 

"I have been living at the same address and looking at the same view for 15 years and have never seen anything like this," the person said in email to SooToday Friday evening.
